Descrição
❖Lead all phases of litigation, including but to limited to: consultation, client
interviews, supporting client in navigating the legal system for which client is
being represented, representation of client at hearings, mediations, and trials,
case development, drafting pleadings, and, when appropriate, drafting and
responding to discovery requests, taking and defending depositions, preparing
and issuing subpoenas, arguing motions, and preparing clients for trials;
❖ Communicate with Wafa House on important case updates
❖Create meaningful relationships with clients for rapport-building;
❖ Provide information and education to understand the dynamics of domestic
violence;
❖ Build and maintain databases and files;
❖ Organize and track case files.
Pro Bono and Community Engagement:
❖ Manage Pro Bono engagement: responsible for partnerships, relationships, and
networking to build Pro Bono Initiative;
❖ Expend referral pool and community partnership through community networks
and pro bono organization partnerships;
❖ Work with the Outreach Department to develop an “online” social media
presence for the legal department;
❖ Consider bigger impact through the development and creation of program and
events.
Community Enrichment:
❖ Collaborate with the Prevention Specialist and Outreach Department to provide
resources to the community and to professionals;
❖ Create and implement legal department trainings;
❖ Participate in and contribute to educational programs.
Manager of Legal Clinic:
❖ Responsible for legal team, including staff attorneys, paralegal(s), intern(s), and
expansion of the legal clinic/program;
❖ Oversee internal processes within legal department and the roles of each staff
member;
❖ Regularly meets with each staff member to ensure team development and
progress is on track;
❖ Case management including allocation of work to each team member;
❖ Create and implement guidelines for qualifying clients, and deciding which cases
the legal clinic will take for legal representation and/or advocacy services.
❖ Perform other duties as assigned;
❖ Show commitment to the organization’s values and principles;

Qualifications
❖ Experience identifying legal challenges;
❖ Developing and bringing a case to trial from beginning to end;
❖ Minimum of 1-2 years of litigation experience;
❖ Proven leadership abilities and collaboration skills both within an internal team of
advocates and among peer organizations;
❖ Admission in good standing to the New Jersey Bar Association;
❖ Must relate well to clients in a caring, professional and unbiased manner;
❖ Effective verbal and written communication;
❖ Strong and defined sense of professional boundaries;
❖ Effective analytical and problem-solving skills;
❖ Ability to create meaningful connections with other agencies;
❖ Successful in working collaboratively and harmoniously with the Wafa House
team;
❖ Excellent time management and prioritization skills;
❖ Ability to self-govern and work with minimal supervision;
❖ Proven ability to interact efficiently and communicate effectively with people from
diverse backgrounds
