Mothers and Children Uganda

Our mission is to empower vulnerable mothers and children in Uganda through access to health services, education, and sustainable livelihood programs.

We are committed to building strong, resilient communities by promoting maternal and child well-being, gender equality, and economic independence.

Through grassroots initiatives and local partnerships, we strive to create safe, supportive environments where every mother can thrive and every child can grow up healthy, educated, and hopeful for the future.

Mothers and Children Uganda (MCU) is a community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable mothers, children, and families in underserved communities across Uganda. We believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to raise her children in dignity, safety, and good health and that every child deserves the chance to grow up educated, empowered, and hopeful.

Our Mission

To empower vulnerable mothers and children in Uganda through access to healthcare, education, and sustainable livelihood opportunities—while building safe, resilient communities where women and children can thrive.

Who We Serve

We work directly with:

• Low-income mothers and single mothers
• Teen mothers and pregnant adolescents
• Vulnerable children (especially orphans, children with disabilities, or those in crisis)
• Refugee families and internally displaced mothers
• Communities in rural and peri-urban areas with limited access to social services

Our beneficiaries often face poverty, gender-based violence, lack of access to education and healthcare, and other barriers to wellbeing.

What We Do

We implement practical, grassroots solutions in the following areas:

Maternal & Child Health

• Prenatal and postnatal care education
• Nutrition workshops for mothers and children
• Family planning and reproductive health awareness
• Referrals and medical outreach clinics

Education & Child Development

• Early childhood education support
• School supplies and uniforms for vulnerable children
• Life skills and mentorship for teenage mothers
• Literacy and numeracy classes

Women’s Empowerment & Livelihoods

• Vocational training (tailoring, crafts, agriculture)
• Microfinance and savings groups
• Entrepreneurship coaching
• Gender rights and domestic violence support

Community Engagement

• Parenting and family counseling sessions
• Youth mentorship and advocacy
• Partnerships with local leaders and health workers
• Volunteer and cultural exchange programs
