At Texas Defender Service, we fight for the end of mass incarceration and excessive punishment in Texas through direct representation, policy reform, and public education. We champion the dignity and humanity of people harmed by mass incarceration, and advocate for a reimagined legal system that is just, humane, and free from racism and cruelty.

Texas Defender Service is a private, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to ensuring a fair and just criminal justice system in Texas. We strive to improve the quality of representation provided to those facing the death penalty in Texas through direct representation, consulting, training, case-tracking and research projects.
