Skillful Steps, established as a 501(c)(3) in 2024, is a Houston-based nonprofit committed to reducing recidivism and increasing economic mobility through life-skills education, workforce development, and mentorship.

Building on years of CDL training outcomes through our for-profit training arm, we are expanding into infrastructure trades — including Diesel Technology and Welding — to connect justice-involved and low-income adults to high-demand, skilled trades careers.

Our tech-enabled portal launching in 2026 will serve over 200 participants, offering transparent progress tracking, employer partnerships, and wraparound support aligned with Texas’ infrastructure and workforce priorities.
