Transformative Justice Project of Colorado is on a mission to abolish the school-to-prison pipeline by dismantling systemic racism embedded in the existing institutions of education, mental health, and criminal injustice, while helping young people to develop the tools to define their own story.
Our Vision: We build a world where we keep kids in school and out of prison.
Before you apply: Is this actually the job for you?
We're hiring a Case Manager at Transformative Justice Project, and we need to be real with you about what this work actually is.
This job is not for everyone. And that's okay.
If you're looking for a traditional case management role where you check boxes, manage caseloads from a distance, and clock out at 5pm - this isn't it.
If "social justice" is something you perform on Instagram but don't live in practice - this isn't it.
If you believe the systems we work within are fundamentally good and just need reform - this isn't it.
This job IS for you if:
You have experience in at least 2 of these areas: education, mental health, or legal systems
Radical love and collective healing are values you embody
You're committed to decolonized and antiracist practices in your actual daily work, not just in theory
You tell young people you love them and you mean it
You center youth voice - even when (especially when) it's uncomfortable or inconvenient
You hustle to get resources when your kids need them - groceries, rent, bond, restitution, whatever it takes
You stay in it when it's hard. Because it will be hard.
You're building a better world, not just imagining one
You understand we do NOT like the cops, and we actively work to dismantle systems of harm
When we have to work within harmful systems (like courts), you show up to humanize our young people at every single turn
What this actually looks like:
You'll carry a caseload while also showing up at community events, advocating in court, running to the store for a family in crisis, and doing whatever else needs doing. You'll work alongside our Co-EDs in a small but mighty team where everyone does everything. You'll build genuine relationships with 50+ youth and 120+ community members. You'll get frustrated with systems that were designed to fail our kids. And you'll show up anyway.
We need people who:
If you read all this and thought "yes, that's exactly what I want to do" - we want to talk to you.
If you read this and felt uncertain or like it's "too much" - we respect that, and this probably isn't the right fit.
