VICTORY AFGHANISTAN

Victory Afghanistan’s mission is to bridge the educational gap and create remote learning opportunities for girls and women in Afghanistan, offering them a pathway to continue their education despite the barriers they face. We stand firmly by the belief that no girl should be left behind in her pursuit of knowledge, dignity, and opportunity. Through free online English lessons, mentorship, and educational partnerships, our aim is to equip young women with the language, confidence, qualifications, and life skills needed to unlock access to higher education, remote work, and long term personal development.

In September 2021, girls in Afghanistan above the 6th grade were banned from attending school. According to UNICEF, approximately 2.5 million Afghan girls are currently out of education. Many young women have now spent years isolated from formal learning and meaningful opportunities.

In response to this educational crisis and growing social isolation, Victory Afghanistan was founded in July 2023 by four Afghan women living in different parts of the world. Today, the organisation has grown into a large international volunteer led educational community.

Currently in Semester 6, Victory Afghanistan supports more than 1,200 students aged between 11 and 40 years old. We now have over 150 volunteers from 24 different countries, all contributing their time voluntarily. The organisation is completely unfunded, and every lesson, mentoring session, and programme we provide is offered entirely free of charge to students.

We currently offer six levels of online English education, ranging from beginner classes to advanced level students preparing for international opportunities. Students attend weekly lessons, complete coursework, and take end of semester exams in order to progress through the programme. At present, we also have over 300 girls on our waiting list due to a shortage of volunteer instructors, as our policy is to never permanently turn away students seeking education.

Alongside our English programme, students can progress onto our Mentorship Programme, where they receive guidance and support in preparing for online university opportunities, international scholarships, remote internships, and future employment opportunities.

Our long term educational goal is to help students reach approximately IELTS 6.0 level English proficiency while also supporting girls who were unable to complete high school inside Afghanistan. Through one of our international education partners, students can also work toward gaining an accredited online high school diploma. We work with seven international partners, including an online high school in California, an acting academy in New York, a debating academy in London, and multiple educational and professional development organisations supporting our students’ long term growth.
