American Cancer Society Discovery Shop

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.

Currently there are over 40 Discovery Shops in California, from Eureka to San Diego. They raise millions of dollars to support the American Cancer Society's efforts to combat cancer. There is limited paid staff per shop and the remaining staff is still made up entirely of Volunteers. They are the most dedicated, hardworking and loving human beings and many have been touched by cancer in some personal way. Our 2015 goal is to reduce cancer mortality by 50%, incidence by 25% and improving the quality of life for all cancer patients. We need help with: cashiering, sales, screening, pricing, displays and merchandising, clerical work and bookkeeping and there are many other opportunities available.
