International Action Network for Gender Equity and Law (IANGEL)

Founded in 2013, IANGEL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated to harnessing the power of pro bono legal services and connecting it to the cause of gender equality and justice. We operate by mobilizing our legal network to provide pro bono legal services to organizations, communities, and individuals nationally and internationally. IANGEL expands the concept of pro bono work, to secure human rights for women and girls around the world through legal representation, research and analysis, education, and advocacy.

During our short existence, we have secured substantial donated legal services to support women’s rights locally and around the world, working with wonderful partners such as Equal Rights Advocates, Machik, the Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association, and the Hague Domestic Violence Project of the Goldman School of Public Policy. Our projects have ranged from national research on employment discrimination, to expanding awareness of the need to reform discriminatory laws in Bangladesh, to addressing a widow's rights in Nigeria. Through briefings and presentations, we have also educated and advocated for women's rights, supporting academics, journalists, public officials, and activists working for gender equality around the world.
