To rehabilitate and give a second chance to lost, forgotten or misunderstood dogs in order to help them find their forever home. To reduce adoption return and failure rates by implementing a thorough adopter evaluation process, which includes ensuring a strong human/dog match, adopter education and adoption integration plans. To offer a safe and well suited environment for dogs within our community to play, practice socialization skills and improve overall behavior. To work with our communities to raise awareness about the misconceptions of bully type breeds and rescue dogs, the challenges associated with rescue work, and the many ways an individual can support a dog in need.

The work of Second Chance Ranch Rescue (SCRR) is distinct among animal welfare organizations in New Hampshire. Since inception in 2017, our adoption process has been dog-centric and tailored to meet each dog's individual needs. Dogs remain with us for as long as necessary to ensure they find a permanent, loving home. Training and enrichment are ongoing; we evaluate the match rather than simply facilitate an adoption.

An unlimited number of meetings are conducted to ensure that the potential new family member can coexist harmoniously with the family's other pets. Typically, we arrange one or more home visits (averaging two), including a sleepover. If the process is successful, the adoption is finalized; if not, we assess all information gathered about the dog’s behavior and initiate further training and socialization. Post-adoption support is also customized for each dog.

In addition to adoption, we provide ongoing surrender prevention through training and boarding for alumni families. Many of these dogs would not be accepted in traditional boarding facilities or daycare.
