It Takes a Village

It Takes a Village (ITAV) is a women-led nonprofit dedicated to being the “village” every family deserves. Our mission is to break the cycles of isolation and poverty by providing families with the resources they need to thrive. The only one of its kind in New England, serving the 4 counties of Western MA, It Takes a Village's programs are designed to address the immediate challenges of the postpartum period, meet children’s basic needs, and nurture the emotional well-being of families.

They say "It Takes a Village" to raise a family, but what does that Village look like?

All families deserve support from their community. That is why we provide practical and emotional support including:

• Weekly postpartum Home Visits for families with infants
• Parent Support Groups and classes
• School based programs
• Workforce training partnerships
• The 'Village Closet’ - family basic needs, free store
• Referrals to local organizations and agencies

Over the past decade, ITAV has distributed $3.4 million in essential supplies and delivered critical services to nearly 27,000 people.
