Washington Square Park is beloved open space in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City. Spanning 9.75 acres, this iconic Park with its signature arch designed by Stanford White and dramatic central fountain is one of Manhattan’s most popular landmarks. The Park serves many functions for a diverse usership, acting as critical green space, a village square, playground, concert hall, reading room, gym, campus quad, theater, and more. And it’s busy! The Park hosts 12 million visits a year, making Washington Square the busiest Park per square foot in all of NYC.
