    About Us

Washington Square Park is beloved open space in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City. Spanning 9.75 acres, this iconic Park with its signature arch designed by Stanford White and dramatic central fountain is one of Manhattan’s most popular landmarks. The Park serves many functions for a diverse usership, acting as critical green space, a village square, playground, concert hall, reading room, gym, campus quad, theater, and more. And it’s busy! The Park hosts 12 million visits a year, making Washington Square the busiest Park per square foot in all of NYC. You can make a difference by lending a hand at our monthly clean-ups, bringing your corporate team for a morning of giving back, or commit to a longer volunteer experience through our Greeter/Guide, Washington Square Waterers, and Clean Team volunteer programs.
