JANE ADDAMS PEACE ASSOCIATION INC

JAPA is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to honoring the outstanding children’s books promoting peace and justice with the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award (JACBA) and bringing those authors and books into Title I classrooms nationwide.

As the nation’s only children’s social justice book award, the Jane Addams Children’s Book Awards recognize the writers and illustrators of six exceptional children’s books each year. Honorees are celebrated at a distinguished annual ceremony.

We amplify the reach of our awardees through our Books in Their Hands program, serving marginalized schools across the country to bring authors and books that share messages of social justice, peace, and equity, reach in over 2,000 K to 8th grade students with free books each year.
