Girls’ Menarche Initiative (GMI) is a non-profit organization in Iganga, Uganda that is committed to provide sustainable menstrual health solutions to the rural communities of Uganda through product provision, gynaecology support, advocacy and education. The goal is to ensure that menstruators show up for activities in schools, families and communities all days, all months.
GMI took the initiative to reduce the number of school dropouts, suicide attempts, anxiety caused by menstruation through providing information to young people (8 years and above), both girls and boys, in order to change conversations about menstruation.
Vision statement: Building confidence in communities to break the silence about menstruation.
