Neighbor Ride enhances the health and quality of life for Howard County's seniors by providing the comfort and peace of mind of affordable, passenger-focused transportation services through a reliable, volunteer-based system. Since 2004, Neighbor Ride has leveraged the power of volunteers to coordinate and provide over 230,000 trips for older adults, age 60 and over – giving them the “wheels” they need to stay healthy and remain actively engaged in the life of our community. The cost of transportation is subsidized for all those Neighbor Ride serves, with modest fees charged for those who can afford to pay. Through the organization's Good Neighbor Fund and Driving Heroes Program, low-income seniors and Veterans receive transportation at no cost to them.
