P.A.L.S. (Prisoner Advocacy Literary Services)
Missão
At Prisoner Advocacy Literary Services (PALS), advocacy is more than outreach.
It is service, responsibility, and a commitment to ensuring that incarcerated individuals are not forgotten simply because they lack resources, influence, or public support.
Many incarcerated individuals face overwhelming barriers when attempting to navigate the legal system, communicate concerns, access information, or seek meaningful review of their cases. Limited legal knowledge, restricted communication access, financial hardship, educational limitations, and institutional constraints often prevent individuals from effectively advocating for themselves. As a result, countless voices go unheard and many cases remain overlooked.
PALS exists to help bridge that gap.
Our organization provides advocacy support designed to help incarcerated individuals and their families organize information, strengthen communication efforts, and present concerns in a clear, professional, and research-based manner. We stand beside those who are often unable to navigate these systems alone.
Sobre Nós
Our advocacy efforts may include:
- Case organization and document review support
- Paralegal and administrative assistance
- Research related to sentencing, case law, policies, and procedural concerns
- Assistance preparing advocacy packets, summaries, timelines, and supporting materials
- Outreach to lawmakers, attorneys, organizations, media outlets, and community stakeholders
- Rehabilitation-focused support and reentry-centered advocacy
- Educational and literary empowerment initiatives
- Family support and communication assistance
We recognize that many incarcerated individuals and their families cannot afford costly legal support, consultants, investigators, or advocacy services. For that reason, much of our work is conducted on a pro bono basis as an act of service and justice-centered commitment.
PALS does not exist to excuse harmful behavior or diminish accountability. We believe accountability and humanity can coexist. We believe rehabilitation deserves recognition. We believe every individual deserves to be heard fully, fairly, and truthfully.
Our advocacy is rooted in dignity, ethical communication, factual research, compassion, and the belief that every person has value beyond the worst moment of their life.
We are especially committed to supporting individuals whose cases may have been overlooked due to excessive sentencing, systemic disparity, lack of resources, procedural concerns, inequitable treatment, or limited access to meaningful advocacy support.
