TIDEWATER REHABILITATION & ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

TREE was organized in 2017 and attained non-profit status in 2020 to provide critical interventions and rehabilitation to wildlife throughout the greater Tidewater Metropolitan area. In addition to providing vital care for migratory and native species, the organization strives to educate the public about living alongside nature in a way that benefits people and wildlife.

In 2025, TREE provided care for 2,034 patients across 162 species. Recently, it became apparent that the unique needs and challenges faced by avian species in our region required a more focused approach. While there are many remarkable organizations in the area dedicated to the welfare of mammals and reptiles, there were very few in the region that specialize in avian rehabilitation, specifically seabirds. In 2024 TREE realigned their mission to better support the magnificent birds of the greater Tidewater region and beyond

TREE works with dozens of other non-profit and government organizations across VA and NC to ensure all migratory birds and other wildlife have a chance at survival in their natural habitats.
