Our House NYC Grief Support Center
Missão
We exist for people grieving all kinds of loss: the death of a partner, parent, child, sibling, friend, colleague or anyone close to you. We offer grief support groups and programs designed to help people feel less isolated, more understood, and more resourced over time—without rushing or “fixing” grief.
We’re also here to lead a cultural shift in how New York understands and responds to grief and loss: providing education and resources for schools, workplaces, and hospitals to destigmatize grief and create connection and more resilience in our communities.
Sobre Nós
Grief is a universal experience, and support makes all the difference. Founded in Los Angeles and expanded to New York City in 2025, Our House has provided grief support, education, and resources to children, teens, and adults for over 30 years. We help people find hope after the death of someone close — through peer connection, compassionate guidance, and the belief that grief shared is grief transformed. We’re working to create a world where grief is understood, shared, and met with compassion.
OUR PROGRAMS
- Adult grief support groups
- Children, teen, and family programs
- School- and community-based grief support
- Professional education and training
Groups are matched by age, relationship to the person who died, and stage of grief to foster trust, belonging, and meaningful connection.
WHY OUR WORK MATTERS
- 1 in 11 children will lose a parent or sibling by age 18
- 95% of employees want bereavement support in the workplace
- Unsupported grief costs U.S. companies up to $228 billion annually through lost productivity, absenteeism, turnover, burnout, and healthcare impacts.
- Grief is linked to increased risks of depression, substance use, school disengagement, and workplace disruption when unsupported
- Grief is not classified as a mental health diagnosis and receives virtually no government funding
- Before Our House, New York City had no dedicated grief support center.
