George Pocock Rowing Foundation

Sobre Nós

The George Pocock Rowing Foundation (GPRF) was founded in 1984 as a charitable, non-profit organization to honor the memory of George Pocock and his contributions to the sport of rowing and to develop rowing throughout the Pacific Northwest. The GPRF believes that rowing transforms lives – on and off the water. Talk to any current or former rower, relative or friend of a rower, or read The Boys in the Boat and you’ll understand. Our mission is to bring communities and boathouses together to get more kids on the water, kids who reflect the full diversity of their communities. We strive to accomplish our goals with a values-based approach inspired by the legacies of George, Stan & Lucy Pocock.

We partner with organizations in the Northwest and nationally, including boathouses, public school districts, parks and recreation departments, city councils, and USRowing, to operate the largest youth rowing initiative in the country. Our work to change how kids find, start and stay rowing includes outreach, financial support, facility development, coach recruitment and education, and much more. If it helps get more kids into rowing, we're all about it.
