Missão
Most young people who need support never know how or where to access it — not because it doesn’t exist, but because getting to it requires a gatekeeper. A teacher who notices. A parent who asks. A crisis that forces the conversation. Self-Care Sanctuary's mission is to provide guidance and early intervention efforts for young people that often grow invisible to traditional systems and are left to fall through unfortunate cracks. We’re Boston-based and building direct, non-clinical mental health access for young people ages 14–22 — no referral, no diagnosis, no crisis-as-an-entry-point required. We plan to launch two broad reaching programs: Liminal will serve a community event series designed for young people who face barriers from accessing help + offer a public comprehensive digital resource guide organized specifically by felt experience. Right now, young individuals are forced to singlehandedly search the depths of various online sources whilst simultaneously sorting through countless miscellaneous provider names. Connecting young people who are actively searching for helpful resources, providing practical steps to reach accessible services with realistic, upfront information on cost/billing, including self guided tools to help manage when health insurance isn't covered. Transparency in donations means funds allocated directly toward building the infrastructure to reach young people before they’re in crisis: developing Liminal’s programming and event materials, producing the resource guide, and covering the operational foundation that makes both possible.
The longer-term vision is a fundamental and functioning comprehensive digital platform built specifically for teens and young adults — organized not by diagnosis or provider, but by situation. Immigrant family dynamics. Autism masking. Traumatic Childhood experiences (including but not limited to, sexual) assault. Domestic violence. There are real-life scenarios some young people are unfortunately forced to endure with longer-term consequences that existing resources either avoid, scare off, or simply even bury in clinical language.Done right, this becomes a high-impact, low-stigma intervention tool: the real help a young person can find at 2 am if they need to, the practical resource that can be accessed before they’re ready to ask anyone for help in real life. Step-by-step, culturally specific, actionable — and built with the safety architecture that content this serious demands. Eventually, we would like to expand to provide career and development workshops for schools/teachers, career professionals as well as resources for open-minded parents who are eager to learn more awareness + contribute towards improving young people's mental health; providing healthy support for young people as trusted adults through alternative approaches, solutions, reactions, and healthy communication behaviors can be extremely effective. Candidly, what is being proposed does require significant funding, rigorous compliance, and clinical oversight at every layer. That’s where this is going. We are now building the foundation for all of this to stand on.
Sobre Nós
We are officially proud to announce fiscal sponsorship and recent nonprofit onboarding completion in partnership with Givinga Foundation!
Self-Care Sanctuary Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in Boston, Massachusetts, dedicated to building accessible, non-clinical mental health support infrastructure for young people ages 14-22. Founded on the conviction that a space should exist where youth feel they have an environment where they feel safe and have enough trust to be vulnerable for every young person navigating mental and emotional challenges. Self-Care Sanctuary operates at the intersection of community-building, cultural competency, and radical accessibility.
The organization addresses a documented gap in the greater Boston youth mental health ecosystem: no existing provider currently delivers direct-to-student, self-initiated mental health access spanning both K-12 and college-aged youth within a non-clinical, culturally resonant framework. Where existing providers rely on school systems, clinical referrals, or age-siloed programming, Self-Care Sanctuary builds infrastructure young people can access on their own terms-before they reach a crisis point.
One aspect will be Liminal—a community event series, and the name for a comprehensive digital resource guide. Self-Care Sanctuary will scale through a phased approach toward a full digital platform practical resource, expanded programming, and ultimately a permanent physical community space serving as a recognized anchor for youth mental health in greater Boston.
