Join Our Board of Directors – Seeking Leaders in Law or Public Policy/Government Relations

Achievable Health, a non-profit community health center located in Culver City, is a trailblazer providing healthcare services focusing on individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization is seeking dedicated and passionate leaders to join our Board of Directors. The current board membership is comprised of leaders from various sectors, and we are looking to further strengthen the background, and skill sets of its membership. With this aim, we are looking for individuals with expertise in law or public policy/government relations, who also have strong connections to corporations and philanthropic networks.

As a board member, you will play a key role in advancing the mission to provide high-quality, accessible healthcare to our community, and particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your insights, experience, and connections will help expand our impact and navigate legal complexities or provide insights to effectively advocate for public policies that benefit the community we serve.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

      • Professional expertise in law (healthcare, nonprofit, compliance, or general counsel) or
      • Public policy/government relations (healthcare and intellectual or developmental disability laws and regulations, coalition building, or healthcare advocacy).
      • Strong connections with corporations, particularly in areas related to healthcare, technology, or legal services.
      • Access to philanthropic networks or experience with fundraising and strategic partnerships.

    Expectations:

Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and come prepared to engage in meaningful discussions. There is also an expectation to serve on at least one board committee. The frequency of committee meetings depends on the particular committee. Some meet monthly and others meet only as needed.

Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for Achievable Health to continue growing its footprint in the community. There is no “Give or Get” policy, but each board member is expected to make a meaningful gift to Achievable Health each fiscal year. Board members are asked throughout the year to participate in other donor engagement activities, including thanking donors for their generosity.

Board members are expected to responsibly represent Achievable Health in their respective communities and be strong ambassadors for the organization.

    Board term:

Board terms last for three (3) years (two (2) consecutive term maximum).
