Want to make a real impact during disasters in New York?
The American Red Cross is looking for a NY State Disaster Liaison Volunteer to help coordinate with emergency teams, share critical info, and support disaster planning across the state.

What You’ll Do:
- Help staff the New York State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and FEMA Region II when activated
- Organize training and scheduling for EOC volunteers
- Attend meetings and exercises with state agencies and disaster partners like New York VOAD
- Share updates between the Red Cross and state emergency teams
- Support disaster planning efforts across New York
- Help build and maintain strong government liaison capabilities
What We’re Looking For:
- Willingness to follow public health and Red Cross policies
- Experience working with executive leaders and government partners (like State Emergency Management or VOAD)
- A talent for building relationships and working toward shared goals
- Flexibility to spot and adapt to changing situations
- A positive, problem-solving mindset and great customer service
- Quick follow-up, active listening, and timely solutions
- Confidence and professionalism when working with people at all levels
- Willingness to travel to meetings and field offices in NY/NJ as needed
- A submitted resume
Time commitment:
- 20 hrs/month + 2-week deployment once a year
- Travel to NY/NJ may be needed
