Volunteer from home. Become an online Teacher Assistant with the Library's Adult Literacy Program

The Los Angeles Public Library offers online reading, writing, and English conversation classes using zoom. Our classes bring in learners from diverse communities around the world!

Reading is a part of our everyday life - from cooking, to driving, to applying for a job. Help someone enrich their life by supporting a class of adult learners on their journey towards literacy.

Your role as a Teacher Assistant:

• Managing Zoom controls (opening and closing a class, admitting learners from the waiting room, locking class, sharing the screen, creating break-out rooms, monitoring learners and chat, etc.)
• Collecting learner information (email addresses, attendance, suggestions)
• Emailing classwork and homework assignments (if needed)
• Reading through the lesson plan and being prepared to help
• Proficient in basic email and computer skills. Familiarity with Zoom is recommended, but we also offer training

This class will be held on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.
