The Event & Volunteer Coordinator role is vital in supporting The Lavender Project’s community efforts. This position helps volunteers feel valued by making outreach activities, pop-up libraries, and gatherings meaningful and impactful. The ideal candidate is passionate about community connection, comfortable coordinating logistics, and excited to help create inclusive spaces for the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and support the logistics for community events, outreach activities, and volunteer-led programs.
- Recruit, organize, and communicate with volunteers to help ensure events are staffed and run smoothly.
- Serve as a point of contact for volunteers before and during events.
- Help create volunteer schedules, event checklists, and basic coordination materials.
- Work with the Board of Directors to align events and volunteer efforts with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Support communication around upcoming events, volunteer needs, and community engagement opportunities.
- Help ensure events are safe, accessible, and affirming for all participants.
- Track volunteer participation and event attendance as needed for reporting and planning.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple moving parts and follow through on details.
- Comfort working with volunteers and engaging with community members.
- Interest in event planning, volunteer coordination, or community outreach.
- Commitment to The Lavender Project’s mission and values.
Prior experience in event coordination or volunteer management is helpful, but not required.

This volunteer position offers flexible hours, allowing you to attend meetings, help plan events, communicate with volunteers, and participate in community activities at your convenience.
