    Descrição

Hospitality & Tourism Community Engagement Advisor- SF Suicide Prevention Walk

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Greater San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is seeking a well-connected hospitality or tourism professional to join the final planning phase of the 2026 San Francisco Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk.

Taking place Saturday, September 19 at South Beach Harbor Park along the Embarcadero, the Walk brings together people affected by suicide and mental health conditions for a powerful day of connection, remembrance, hope, and action. Check out the website and register FREE at afsp.org/sf.

This is a short-term, high-impact committee opportunity for someone who can help open doors across San Francisco’s hospitality, tourism, and visitor-serving communities. Rather than supporting routine event logistics, you will serve as a community ambassador and strategic connector, helping us introduce the Walk to businesses, professional networks, and potential partners that can expand our reach in suicide prevention.

How You Can Make an Impact

Depending on your experience and connections, you may:

    • Invite hotels, restaurants, attractions, event venues, visitor organizations, and hospitality groups to support or participate in the Walk
    • Connect AFSP with potential sponsors, in-kind donors, promotional partners, or corporate teams
    • Encourage hospitality businesses to share Walk materials with employees, guests, and community networks
    • Recruit colleagues or industry groups to form a Walk team or volunteer together
    • Identify opportunities for donated goods, participant experiences, or event-day support
    • Serve as a visible ambassador for suicide prevention within the hospitality and tourism sector

    We’re Looking for Someone Who

    • Works or has strong relationships in hospitality, tourism, restaurants, events, travel, or a related field
    • Is comfortable making introductions and inviting others to get involved
    • Has experience with partnerships, business development, community engagement, marketing, or corporate social responsibility
    • Can work independently and act quickly during the final month before the event
    • Cares deeply about mental health, suicide prevention, or strengthening the San Francisco community

    Time Commitment

Approximately 2-4 flexible hours per week through September 19th, plus brief virtual committee check-ins as available. Much of the work can be completed remotely through email, phone calls, and introductions.

This is an excellent opportunity to lend your professional network and leadership skills to one of the nation’s leading suicide prevention organizations while helping create a meaningful, highly visible community event.
