Position Overview:
The Director of Family Support is responsible for overseeing SBMH’s core family-focused programs: Hero Boxes/ Sidekick Boxes, Trinity, and Survival. This role ensures that families navigating pediatric cancer receive timely, compassionate, and consistent support. The Director plays a key role in maintaining a strong, family-like connection with each patient and their loved ones while managing internal processes to keep services running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Oversight
- Manage and oversee the Hero Boxes/Sidekick Boxes, Trinity, and Survival programs
- Ensure each program is operating effectively and aligned with SBMH’s mission
- Monitor workflow across programs to maintain organization and consistency
- Application Management
- Ensure all incoming applications are reviewed and processed in a timely manner
- Track application status and follow up as needed to prevent delays
- Maintain accurate and organized records of families being supported
- Family Engagement
- Foster meaningful, ongoing relationships with families
- Ensure all interactions reflect SBMH’s commitment to a supportive, “family-like” environment
- Serve as a point of guidance and care throughout each family’s journey with SBMH
- Team Coordination
- Direct team members on when to send applications and next steps in the process
- Provide guidance on when and how to begin assembling and delivering Hero Boxes/ Sidekick Boxes
- Ensure team members understand timelines, expectations, and responsibilities
- Financial Assistance Coordination
- Review applications for completeness and readiness for financial support consideration
- Communicate with Tina when a family has provided all required information
- Facilitate the handoff process so final approval can be reviewed and signed off
