Volunteers set their own hours within the framework of the veteran's needs. No minimum hours expectations, average commitment is 2-4 hours a month.

The WHV program includes the Veteran-to-Veteran program that focuses on matching veteran volunteers with veteran hospice patients.

Veteran volunteers make visits to veteran patients and facilitate conversations with them (e.g., reminiscing).
Veteran volunteers may participate in pinning ceremonies, acts of appreciation and recognition. (National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization, 2022)
