ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a Speaker's Bureau Manager to manage speaking and panel requests from around LA; you can speak in these events and/or arrange for other speakers to attend. There are virtual and in-person opportunities, though we get more requests for in-person speakers.
We work to assemble speakers and panels that are as diverse and reflective of LGBTQ+ community whenever possible. Allies are welcome (including parents/guardians/caregivers), though you will be encouraged to speak from your own experiences.
Responsibilities
- Manage speaker requests, matching requests with panel availability and topic.
- Commit to a minimum of 4 speaking engagements per year.
- Share personal stories and experiences to educate and inspire diverse audiences about LGBTQ+ experiences and PFLAG's mission.
- Represent PFLAG LA professionally and authentically in various settings including schools, organizations, and businesses.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse audiences.
- Reliable transportation for in-person engagements (carpooling opportunities might be available).
- Public speaking and storytelling skills preferred, but not required (training provided for those new to speaking).
Time Commitment
- 1-hour sessions (typically).
- Priority need for weekday in-person availability at schools, organizations, and businesses throughout Los Angeles.
