Descrição
Lab Assistants help students during regularly scheduled computer lab times. Students utilize the lab for language learning software, job search, homework, and more.
Current Needs:
- Support in the OPEN lab is needed Tuesdays from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
- Support in the Walk-in Lab is needed Monday - Thursday from 1:00 - 5:00 pm
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise the computer lab during your scheduled shift.
- Keyboarding Lab:
- Help students log on/off computers
- Answer questions regarding correct typing techniques
- Open Computer Lab:
- Help students log on/off computers.
- Support students if they have any questions regarding their homework
- Roles and responsibilities vary slightly by Job Training and Education Center location
- Other assignments as needed
Reports to: Center Manager
Role Requirements & Abilities:
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, or an interest in learning about it
- Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities
- A solid understanding of, or interest in learning about, cultural humility and cultural responsiveness
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent
- Patient, understanding, and caring
- Strong listening skills
- Strong computer skills
Essential Physical Abilities:
- Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 10 lbs., grasp, handle, finger, and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms. Able to traverse a wide variety of physical environments without assistance, including uneven surfaces and stairs. Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing, including those who have limited English skills, large groups, small groups, and individuals. Able to use standard office equipment without assistance.
Working Environment/Conditions:
- Classroom setting; moderate noise level.
