Humanitas Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide comfort, companionship, and emotional support to patients and families during the end-of-life journey. Volunteers play a meaningful role by offering a caring presence and helping ensure that no patient feels alone.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families
• Offer support for caregivers and families such as picking up groceries, light household tasks, preparing simple snacks or drinks
• Engage patients through conversation, reading, watching tv, looking through photos and memory books, etc.
• Assist in creating a comforting and supportive environment
• Document volunteer visits and report concern to the volunteer coordinator when needed
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospice policies
• Communicate respectfully with hospice staff and families

Qualifications

• Compassionate, dependable, and respectful demeanor
• Strong listening and communication skills
• Ability to provide emotional support in sensitive situations
• Must complete volunteer onboarding and training
• Background check required
