Commitment Details:
Hospice volunteers are asked to commit to a min of 4 hours per week to provide consistent support and meaningful companionship to our patients and families. Scheduling is flexible and coordinated based on volunteer availability and patient needs.

Description
Humanitas Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide comfort, companionship, and emotional support to patients and families during the end-of-life journey. Volunteers play a meaningful role by offering a caring presence and helping ensure that no patient feels alone.
Responsibilities
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families
- Offer support for caregivers and families such as picking up groceries, light household tasks, preparing simple snacks or drinks
- Engage patients through conversation, reading, watching tv, looking through photos and memory books, etc.
- Assist in creating a comforting and supportive environment
- Document volunteer visits and report concern to the volunteer coordinator when needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospice policies
- Communicate respectfully with hospice staff and families
Qualifications
- Compassionate, dependable, and respectful demeanor
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Ability to provide emotional support in sensitive situations
- Must complete volunteer onboarding and training
- Background check required
