About AfriGenetry Link
AfriGenetry Link is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reconnecting Africa and its global diaspora through DNA, ancestry, health, and education. Our work focuses on restoring identity, advancing genomic equity, preserving African heritage, and improving community health across Africa and the diaspora.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Volunteer Board Secretary to join our Board of Directors. This individual will play a key role in supporting the board's governance, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring effective communication across the organization.
This position is open to applicants who live in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, as occasional in-person meetings and local events may be required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare meeting agendas in collaboration with board leadership.
- Record and distribute accurate board meeting minutes.
- Maintain board records, policies, and official documentation.
- Track board action items and follow up on assigned tasks.
- Coordinate board meeting schedules and communications.
- Support board governance and organizational compliance.
- Assist with special projects and organizational planning as needed.
Qualifications
- Reside in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Detail-oriented and dependable.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Drive, Calendar, Gmail), Microsoft Office, and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet.
Previous experience serving on a nonprofit board or in an administrative, executive assistant, or secretary role is preferred but not required.
