VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR/GUITAR INSTRUCTOR FOR YOUTH GUITAR CLASSES

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Guitars Not Guns currently has an opening for a new director for the Sonoma County chapter and is accepting applications.
WHO WE ARE:
Guitars Not Guns is an international nonprofit (25 years strong) helping at-risk and all children find positive alternatives to drugs, violence, and addiction. We provide free guitar lessons and free instruments in a group setting—right here in Sonoma County.
YOUR ROLE:
- Lead community outreach to local organizations hosting classes
- Recruit and train volunteer guitar instructors (we currently have 10)
- Coordinate fundraising activities (events, campaigns, etc.)
- Oversee purchasing and refurbishing of guitars and accessories
- Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
- Oversee student enrollment (with support from the Assistant Director, Librarian, etc.)
- Lead guitar classes in collaboration with fellow volunteer instructors
- Support finance management in collaboration with the Treasurer/Secretary
- Mentor students and fellow Guitars Not Guns volunteers

Once your application is received, the next step in the process is that you will be contacted by a GNG volunteer for a brief discussion, and if we mutually agree to move forward, you'll be registered for a speedy background check, virtual online training, and then attend a 1-hour volunteer guitar instructors orientation session plus ongoing training meetings, in your spare time most likely in Cotati or Sonoma.
