    Volunteer Country Team Leaders Wanted

    Join First Web Foundation's Mission to Empower 10,000 Nonprofits by 2030

    Are you passionate about using technology for social good? Do you want to help under-resourced African nonprofits, social enterprises, and individual social influencers amplify their community impact through digital tools? First Web Foundation is seeking dynamic young volunteers to serve as Country Team Leaders across Southern and Eastern Africa.

    As a registered nonprofit organisation, the First Web Foundation provides free and heavily subsidised digital services to small community-based nonprofits, social enterprises, and individual social influencers who are making a real difference in their communities. We offer website development, social media strategy, online fundraising support, and digital training to organisations that cannot afford these essential services.

    Role Overview

    Position: Volunteer Country Team Leader.

    Time Commitment: 5 hours per week (equivalent to just one hour per workday, approximately, with flexible scheduling). Note that it’s possible to schedule all five hours over weekends, if necessary.

    Location: 100% virtual/remote work.

    Duration: Minimum 12-month commitment preferred.

    Countries (Phase 1):

    South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Tanzania (additional countries to be added in subsequent phases).

    Key Responsibilities

    Community Outreach and Engagement:

    • Identify and connect with promising nonprofits, social enterprises, and individual social influencers in your country.
    • Promote First Web Foundation's services through local networks and social media channels.
    • Conduct virtual information sessions for potential applicant organisations.
    • Build relationships with local nonprofit networks, government agencies, and development partners.

    Application Support and Assessment:

    • Guide organisations through the application process for our non-cash grants programme.
    • Conduct initial assessments of applicant organisations' needs and eligibility.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations to the First Web Foundation review team.
    • Follow up with successful applicants to ensure smooth onboarding.

    Partnership Development:

    • Collaborate with Executive Edge Coaching and Training (EECT) to deliver comprehensive support.
    • Identify opportunities for local partnerships and collaboration.
    • Represent First Web Foundation at virtual conferences, webinars, and networking events.
    • Connect with other Country Team Leaders to share best practices and experiences.

    Digital Content and Communication:

    • Create country-specific content for social media platforms using tools like Canva.
    • Write blog posts and success stories highlighting local nonprofit achievements.
    • Maintain regular communication with supported organisations in your country.
    • Contribute to First Web Foundation's newsletter and website content.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Age 18-35 with a strong passion for nonprofit and development work.
    • Proven experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter).
    • Proficiency in design tools, particularly Canva or similar applications.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Reliable internet access and a personal computer/smartphone.
    • Basic understanding of nonprofit sector challenges in Africa.

    Preferred Attributes:

    • University degree in development studies, communications, IT, or related field.
    • Previous volunteer experience with nonprofits or social enterprises.
    • Knowledge of digital marketing, website development, or online fundraising.
    • Understanding of local nonprofit landscape and development challenges.
    • Bilingual capabilities (English plus local languages).
    • Leadership experience in community or student organisations.
