Volunteer Opportunity: Friendly Visitor & Nature Companion
Location: Portland, OR 97233
Setting: Memory Care Community
Are you looking for a meaningful way to support an older adult through companionship and presence? We are seeking a caring volunteer to provide one-on-one visits with a resident of a memory care community.
Volunteer Activities May Include:
- Friendly visits and quiet conversation
- Sharing time outdoors in a safe setting
- Looking through books, magazines, or nature-themed materials
- Providing companionship and social connection
- Offering a calm, supportive presence
Volunteer Qualifications:
- Patient, compassionate, and dependable
- Comfortable interacting with older adults experiencing memory loss or communication challenges
- Able to engage through both verbal and nonverbal communication
- No gender preference
About the Participant: This participant communicates primarily through head nods and gestures but enjoys social connection and companionship. She previously enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors. A volunteer's presence and engagement can help foster meaningful connection and reduce isolation.
Commitment: Flexible scheduling based on volunteer availability.
