Consumer Advocacy and Information Resource (CAIR) is seeking Volunteer Health Committee Members to support our work in food safety, consumer health, product safety, and public health advocacy across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean. This remote volunteer opportunity is ideal for qualified professionals who wish to contribute their expertise to evidence-based consumer protection and public education.
The Health Committee provides technical content, advisory support, and research input. It does not provide clinical care or individual medical treatment.
Areas of Expertise Sought
CAIR welcomes volunteers with qualifications or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Pharmacy
- Chemistry / Analytical Science
- Agriculture / Food Systems
- Public or Environmental Health (optional / advisory)
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute expert input and content on food safety, health risks, medicines, supplements, and consumer product safety.
- Support research, analysis, and interpretation of health- and food-related issues affecting consumers.
- Assist in developing public education materials, advisories, briefs, and policy-focused content.
- Review technical information to ensure accuracy, clarity, and responsible risk communication.
- Advise CAIR’s Board and management team on health-related risks, standards, and best practices relevant to consumer advocacy.
- Participate in committee meetings and collaborative work on a flexible, volunteer basis.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification in medicine, nutrition, pharmacy, chemistry, agriculture, public health, or a related field.
- Registration, licensure, or eligibility to practice in the relevant profession (where applicable).
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for public understanding.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate remotely with a multidisciplinary team.
