Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife

Acerca de

The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife manages the State’s fish and wildlife resources by protecting habitat, implementing species management plants, informing and educating the public, and performing basic research. The Department of Fish and Wildlife’s central office staff oversees daily administration activities, including fiscal control, hunting, fishing and trapping license distribution, access development, public affairs, and federal aid. We are primarily funded by hunting and fishing license fees. Additionally, funding is received through federal excise taxes on hunting and fishing equipment and boating fuels, known as the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Fund (Pittman-Robertson Act of 1937). The Department has over 125 full-time employees and over 60 seasonal employees working in five divisions; Fisheries, Wildlife, Law Enforcement, Outreach, and Administration. We are committed to the Department’s mission: “To protect and conserve our fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the people of Vermont”.
