The Good News Community Kitchen is a response to hunger in the Rogers Park community of Chicago and represents a unique collaboration between over thirty religious and secular organizations that significantly support the Kitchen financially, provide in-kind donations of food and offer hands-on volunteer assistance. It was established in 1983 as a ministry of the Good New Community Church and became a separate non-profit organization in 2000. The Kitchen is the only organization in the area to provide a hot, nutritious dinner 365 days a year.
The Kitchen's mission is: to reduce poverty and hunger in the Rogers Park and greater Chicago community by providing nutritious meals daily while building a just society through advocacy and collaborative relationships across racial, cultural and socio-economic lines to promote the well-being of patrons served.
The vision for the Kitchen established by its Board of Directors is built on the following values: · Service · Collaboration · Advocacy
The Good News Community Kitchen is committed to ensuring that people's basic right to food is met daily…until all have plenty and no one is left in need!
