We strive to provide a supportive, edible environment for learning languages.

Cooking Up Cultures keeps an "open table" philosophy. We want all our students to feel welcomed, confident to speak their new language, maintain pride in their heritage, and have opportunities to share their native culture with their classmates.

We believe broader multicultural compassion will increase the community's ability to solve problems creatively, to better engage more community members, and to maintain Austin's small town feel where everyone is important and has a seat at the table.

Each Cooking Up Cultures series meets once a week for five weeks. We explore a new recipe and vocabulary in each class. Every series will focus on a specific food genre, giving us an opportunity to explore language, food and culture within each class. There is so much culture wrapped up in all of our food, that it creates a natural connection between language and the belly. We all eat, after all!
