🌿 Compassionate Elder Care Sanctuary in the Drakensberg, South Africa

For My Daisies Elderly Care Home is a small, heart-led sanctuary providing safety, dignity and companionship to elderly women who have nowhere else to go. Nestled in the Central Drakensberg, we offer a warm, family-style environment where our residents receive 24/7 care, gentle routines, nutritious meals and a sense of belonging.

We are a grassroots initiative run by a husband-and-wife team (both qualified medics) who felt called to create a safe place for vulnerable elders in our rural community. We currently care for three elderly women in our private home, offering everything from daily assistance to emotional support, medical oversight, nature-time and compassionate companionship.

Many elders in our country face abandonment, neglect or poverty, with limited options for long-term care. Our mission is to stand in that gap with heart, presence and practical support.

Our Long-Term Vision:

We dream of expanding into a slightly larger rural space where we can welcome more elderly women who urgently need safety and continuity of care. Our future sanctuary will include:

• A peaceful garden for gentle activity
• Vegetable tunnels and chickens for daily purpose
• Shared meals and companionship
• A nature-connected, sustainable way of living
• A supportive team of local and international volunteers

We see a home where our elders are not forgotten — where they are valued, seen and cared for with tenderness.
