Associate Technology Consultant

About the Role

Aropa Consulting seeks an Associate Technology Consultant to be a core member of our technology and operations practice. This position is ideal for a systems-oriented thinker with demonstrated expertise in diagnosing, designing and building technical solutions to operational challenges.

The Associate Consultant will be responsible for translating complex organizational needs into clear technical requirements. After an initial onboarding and training period, this role will quickly transition to supporting complex projects, which includes serving as the primary point of contact for clients, and ensuring the successful execution of technology evaluations, implementations, and optimization efforts.

*This position can be performed from anywhere in the world, but the candidate must have US work authorization.

Core Responsibilities

This is a list of some of the responsibilities that this position will have. This list is not exhaustive, but any changes will be done in a collaborative manner with the Associate Technology Consultant.

Client Service & Project Leadership (35%)

• Serve as a lead consultant on assigned technology projects, managing timelines, scope, and client expectations from initiation through successful delivery.
• Conduct in-depth discovery and human-centered design sessions with clients to understand their financial, fundraising, and operational processes.
• Translate discovery outcomes into clear, concise, and actionable functional requirements and user stories.
• Configure, implement, and optimize enterprise-level systems (e.g., CRM, ERP, finance systems) to align with client needs and best practices.
• Develop and facilitate client training materials and sessions, ensuring sustainable adoption of new systems and processes.
• Act as the primary bridge between client stakeholders and third-party vendors during technology evaluation and selection processes.

Project Support (35%)

• Support project management, tracking tasks and deliverables, recording meeting notes, and monitoring resource usage and timelines.
• Ensure consistent, clear communication with clients and among the Aropa team, proactively flagging concerns and next steps.
• Attend meetings and shadow senior consultants for the purpose of updating project deliverables, tracking tasks, and providing follow-up communication to clients.
• Work closely with other consultants to ensure team progress and alignment.

Internal Operations & Strategy (30%)

• Contribute to the refinement of internal technology and operations methodologies, including process mapping, documentation standards, and project management tools.
• Stay current on technology trends, particularly those impacting the nonprofit sector, to ensure Aropa is always providing best-in-class, modern solutions.
• Collaborate with the Senior Consultant and CEO to develop new service offerings and support internal technology infrastructure needs.
• Document and maintain clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key technology tasks and client deliverables.

Ideal Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated professional experience in technology implementation, systems analysis, business analysis, or data management.
• Demonstrated build and deploy a technological solution, either personal or professional.
• Exceptional systems-oriented thinking with the ability to map complex, cross-functional processes (e.g., Procure-to-Pay, Grant-to-Close).
• Proven ability to manage timelines, prioritize tasks, and execute project deliverables independently after initial direction.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Commitment to Aropa’s values, particularly equity and care, ensuring all solutions are designed with human impact and accessibility in mind.
• Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated if you are able to use the word balderdash somewhere in your application

Preferred Skills

• Experience working within or consulting for nonprofit organizations.
• Familiarity with financial systems integration and operational processes (e.g., invoicing, expense management).
• Experience with a formal project management methodology (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
