Communications Associate

The Role

In this role you will have the opportunity to write, research, manage projects, generate creative ideas, and pitch media stories—all to support a wide array of mission-driven organizations and leaders.

Responsibilities

An Associate at Be Clear will:

• Generate well-written drafts of content including press releases, blogs, op-eds, and web copy (writing is the primary function of this role!)
• Create and post social media content across a range of platforms
• Create and edit graphics and simple videos for social media
• Cultivate reporter relationships, pitch stories, and place op-eds
• Develop high-quality presentations and memos
• Develop client meeting agendas and create and track project management plans
• Create and manage media lists and monitor traditional and social media
• Manage Be Clear newsletter and email list

Qualifications

An Associate at Be Clear will share our passion for using the power of communications and storytelling to build a better, more progressive world and have:

• 2+ years professional communications or closely-related experience, preferably in government, campaigns, journalism, advocacy, or similarly fast-paced environments
• Strong writing and editing skills, including copy-editing
• A detail oriented, organized approach to managing projects and meeting deadlines
• Knowledge of social media strategy on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn and experience creating social media content
• Great judgment and a track record of working collaboratively to solve problems
• Capacity to succeed in a dynamic work environment that frequently requires multitasking and balancing competing demands
• Fluency in and unwavering commitment to advancing issues of racial justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion

Additional consideration will be given for:

• Spanish fluency
• Graphic design and video editing skills and experience with tools such as Canva, Squarespace, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, and Riverside.FM
• Pre-existing relationships with relevant journalists

Status and Location

This is a full-time, remote position (must live in U.S.) with domestic travel expected several times per year.
