    Position: Grant Writer

    Job Type: Independent Contractor 1099

    Pay: $35 - $45 per hour based on experience ($25 Training Rate)

    Duration: Ongoing

    Location: Remote

    Reports To: Owners

    Position Summary

    At Pinnacle Consulting Group (PCG), the Grants Writer is more than a skilled communicator—they are a strategic partner in advancing the missions of nonprofits across sectors such as arts, health, and early childhood education. In this contract role, you will be instrumental in securing vital funding by researching opportunities, writing high-quality grant proposals and reports, and managing funder and client relationships. Ideal candidates are self-directed, detail-oriented, and thrive in a remote, mission-driven environment. A strong grasp of diverse funding sources, excellent technical writing skills, and sound independent judgment are essential. Just as important is a knack for storytelling—shaping narratives that not only inspire but also clearly connect program goals to budgets and measurable impact. The Grants Writer plays a critical role in helping our clients bring their vision to life and drive meaningful change in their respective communities.

    Responsibilities

    The Grants Writer plays a pivotal role in securing critical funding to support PCG’s mission and the organizational goals of our clients. They embody PCG's passion for impactful grant writing and take the lead in creating compelling, successful grant proposals. Key responsibilities include:

    • Grant Research & Identification: Conduct thorough research to identify new institutional foundations, corporate sponsors, and state or federal grant opportunities. Qualify and cultivate relationships with prospective grant-making entities.
    • Grant Proposal Development: Serve as lead writer for government, corporate, and family foundation grant proposals. Craft tailored proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitation opportunities, ensuring alignment with each grant-making organization’s guidelines and preferences.
    • Collaborative Program Design: Work closely with PCG leadership and clients to strategically develop programs eligible for grant funding. Lead collaborative efforts to package initiatives into compelling proposals.
    • Relationship Management: Oversee deliverables, reporting, and ongoing engagement to ensure funder-client partnerships thrive.
    • Grant Compliance: Prepare post-award reporting and compliance documents to ensure clients are able to meet deliverables and proactively address issues.
    • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with PCG leadership to establish organizational grant goals, set priorities, and monitor progress.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams to ensure project deliverables are clearly communicated and fulfilled. Facilitate effective communication between stakeholders during grant planning, submission, and implementation phases.
    • Professional Development: Stay informed on current trends in foundation giving, government funding, and philanthropic initiatives. Participate in trainings, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance grant writing expertise.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in grant writing across foundation, corporate, and government sectors, with a proven track record of securing and stewarding grant funding.
    • Strong background in crafting compelling proposals, including tailored narratives for specific grant-making organizations.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with AI tools to enhance productivity.
    • Solid understanding of nonprofit fundraising principles and IRS Form 990s.
    • Exceptional written communication and editing skills, with acute attention to detail.
    • Metrics-oriented approach with proven methods to set, measure, and achieve performance goals.
    • Skilled in managing multiple complex projects with a high level of organization and process-driven methodology.
    • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to provide innovative solutions under tight deadlines.
    • Team-oriented professional with high emotional intelligence, decisiveness, and a drive for measurable results.

    Schedule

    30-40 hours per week. Flexible schedule. Occasional nights & weekends required.

    As an independent contractor, you will have the flexibility to manage your schedule while committing 30–40 hours per week to this role. While you will have autonomy in structuring your workflow, consistent availability to meet project deadlines and collaborate effectively is essential.

    Benefits

    This is an Independent Contractor position as, as such, does not include benefits. Independent Contractors are responsible for filing their own Social Security, Federal, and State taxes.
