    Careers In Nonprofits has been retained by a Health & Wellness Social Service Agency to assist in the search for their new Community Engagement Associate. This is a Full-Time, Permanent, In-Person position based in Hinsdale, IL.

    This social service agency provides free cancer support services to individuals and their families.

    ORGANIZATION: Health & Wellness Social Service Agency

    LOCATION: Hinsdale, IL (In-Office & Chicagoland area)

    POSITION TITLE: Community Engagement Associate

    SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week (includes 2 evenings/week and 1 Saturday/month)

    DURATION: Permanent

    SALARY: $50,000- 52,000 

    Is This Your Dream Job? The Community Engagement Associate builds relationships to raise awareness of the agencies services and increase referrals of new participants through community engagement, including a focused effort to expand awareness to the Prostate Cancer community throughout Chicagoland.

    Our Ideal Candidate:

    • 2 years experience conducting community outreach & engagement for health-related services, programs, and events.
    • Experience working with a medical patient population, ideally a cancer population.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish strategic and effective relationships with colleagues and external partners.
    • Knowledgeable about community resources in the South and West sides of Chicago.
    • Highly organized, ability to take initiative, and work independently while handling multiple priorities.
    • Access to a vehicle for transportation to partner locations.
    • Ability to lift and carry approximately 40 lbs. related to equipment and materials. Physical stamina for event set-up, including moving furniture and arranging spaces.
    • Associate’s Degree Required- Public Health, Community Health, or related field
    • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred

    How You Will Spend Your Day: 

    Direct Work with Participants (50%)

    Participant Engagement

    • Lead participant engagement process including follow-up to identify suitable programs for new participants and provide support for cancer-related transitions.
    • Facilitate entry into programs through community partner collaborations, in-clinic consultations, and tabling events at locations throughout Chicagoland.
    • Monitor participant progress from outreach to program engagement and assist with outside resources when needed.

    Program Facilitation

    • Facilitate orientations, engagement experiences, survivorship programs, and partner programs as appropriate based on education, experience, and training.
    • Support psycho-educational workshops, community-based programs, and events at all locations as assigned.
    • Assist with logistics related to room scheduling, class registration, and post-class follow-up, as needed.
    • Promptly record all service efforts into the database management system.

    Community Engagement and Coordination (30%)

    • Conduct a census of all potential partners/associated prostate related organizations in existing or new areas of service, including organizations providing direct services or those with relationships to prostate-connected organizations.
    • Initiate direct communications and build/ maintain relationships with partner organizations through emails, on-site information sessions, and one-on-one meetings to regularly share programing.
    • Represent the agency at community/medical meetings and identify existing working groups/committees appropriate for participation.
    • Send reminder emails and calls to participants about current and new programming.

    Program Outreach, Program Support, & Administration (15%)

    • Assist with identifying, establishing, and maintaining strategic and collaborative relationships with community partners, health care providers, collaborators, and constituents to build awareness of programs and increase referrals.
    • Participate in outreach through speaking engagements and community events.
    • Contribute to resource database for participant resources.
    • Participate in the evaluation of programs and tracking and reporting as assigned.
    • Provide input on policies and procedures as needed.

    Other (5%)

    • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
    • Perform general tasks and other duties as assigned.
