Director of Operations
Los Angeles, CA | Full-Time | $85,000 – $95,000 + Benefits
Our client, Esperanza Community Housing Corporation, is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities in South Los Angeles through affordable housing, health equity, and community development initiatives. They are seeking a Director of Operations to serve as a key member of the leadership team and help build the internal systems and structure needed to support their continued growth and impact.
The Director of Operations will act as the operational engine of the organization, working closely with the Executive Director to translate strategic priorities into clear, accountable systems across programs, administration, finance, and compliance. This individual will play a critical role in aligning teams, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring that organizational goals and grant deliverables are consistently met. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where they can build structure, create clarity, and drive accountability while supporting a mission-driven team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate organizational strategy into clear operational plans and measurable outcomes across all programs
- Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure alignment with grant requirements, program goals, and organizational priorities
- Provide oversight and support to program leaders, ensuring clarity around expectations, timelines, and deliverables
- Identify operational gaps and implement systems to improve efficiency, accountability, and consistency
- Oversee administrative infrastructure including IT systems, data management, vendor relationships, and facility coordination
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and grant-related requirements
- Develop and refine organizational policies, procedures, and reporting systems to support leadership visibility
- Implement onboarding and offboarding systems, including access control, asset management, and documentation processes
- Lead and support staff through structured performance management systems that balance accountability with a supportive, mission-aligned culture
- Partner closely with the Executive Director to strengthen organizational structure and operational capacity
Qualifications:
- 7–10 years of experience in operations, nonprofit management, or organizational leadership
- Demonstrated success building systems and infrastructure in growing organizations
- Strong experience with grant management, budgeting, and compliance
- Proven ability to supervise and develop teams while maintaining accountability and performance standards
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to balance compassion and structure
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Passion for community development, affordable housing, and social impact work
