    Director of Development

Helping and Lending Outreach Support - HALOS

    Charleston, South Carolina (Hybrid Position)

The Moran Company (www.morancompany.com) is pleased to partner with HALOS to recruit the organization's next Director of Development.

The mission of Helping and Lending Outreach Support (www.charlestonhalos.org), known as HALOS, is to equip kinship caregivers for success, provide resources that support safe and thriving children, and advocate for a kin-first South Carolina. Kinship care is defined as loved ones, primarily family members, caring for a child when the parents are unable to do so.

HALOS was founded in 1997 by Dr. Eve Spratt, a child psychologist and pediatrician in Charleston County, SC, to serve children and youth in foster care. The organization began as a volunteer-led project that mobilized community faith groups to meet the needs of children involved with child welfare services. Recognizing the complete lack of services for kinship families, HALOS began the first direct service program for kinship families in South Carolina in 2007. In 2023, HALOS provided services to 680 kinship families, with 1,522 children in the tri-county area of Charleston. With the number of children being raised by an extended family member growing 6 times faster than the general population, in 2025 HALOS will expand its services to include an additional 7 counties in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Currently, HALOS has 15 employees with a budget of approximately $1.8 million that includes support from the Duke Endowment and the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Development will be responsible for creating, executing, and evaluating all philanthropic strategies with a donor-centered philosophy that ensures a diverse and sustainable revenue portfolio in support of HALOS' mission. The Director of Development will develop and nurture relationships with existing donors while identifying and cultivating new donors to the organization. This individual will be an experienced philanthropy professional and have a passion for nonprofit excellence.

Requirements for this position include: a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college, professional experience and demonstrated success in fundraising for a nonprofit organization, and demonstrated success in achieving annual monetary goals and activity benchmarks in fundraising. CFRE designation preferred.

The salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000. HALOS offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, basic life and accidental death and dismemberment, short- and long-term disability, sick leave, paid time off, and holidays. HALOS offers a hybrid work environment beginning in summer 2025, with remote work and an administrative office hub.

The search for the Director of Development is being conducted by The Moran Company. To apply for this position, submit a cover letter and resume to Becky Hauk, The Moran Company. Resume should be chronological and include all professional education and experience, dates of employment (month and year).
