    We are currently in search of a Director of Social Work for a Senior Center. This position is fully on-site in Brooklyn, NY.

    LOCATION: Brooklyn, NY

    POSITION TITLE: Director of Social Work

    SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30pm (35 hours/week)

    DURATION: Permanent

    SALARY RANGE: $80-$90k

A community-based Senior Center is seeking a collaborative and mission-driven Director of Social Work to oversee the administrative operations of the social work department while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services for older adults. This leadership role will supervise staff and interns, strengthen community partnerships, and support members in accessing critical benefits, resources, and care services. The Director will play a key role in fostering a compassionate, responsive, and supportive environment that promotes dignity, stability, safety, and independence for all members.

    Our Ideal Candidate:

    • Licensed Master’s degree in Social Work (LMSW or LCSW) required
    • 2–5+ years of case management experience, preferably supporting older adults
    • Supervisory experience strongly preferred
    • Strong understanding of aging populations, including diverse, underserved, and multicultural communities
    • Knowledge of public benefits and entitlement programs including Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, and SCRIE
    • Experience with crisis intervention, assessments, and case planning
    • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
    • Independent, proactive, and solutions-oriented work style
    • Demonstrated empathy, cultural competence, and professionalism
    • Experience using electronic record systems such as VIVE preferred
    • SIFI Certification strongly preferred or willingness to obtain
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and community-centered care

    How You Will Spend Your Day:

    • Provide supervision, mentorship, and guidance to Case Managers and Social Work interns
    • Facilitate supervision meetings and support staff development initiatives
    • Review case notes, assessments, and service documentation to ensure compliance and quality standards
    • Respond to crisis situations and provide support for high-risk cases
    • Oversee case assistance services and ensure timely, goal-oriented service delivery
    • Monitor program data and maintain documentation using electronic systems including VIVE
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments and person-centered care planning
    • Assist members in accessing benefits, entitlements, and supportive services
    • Provide referrals for mental health services, APS, home care, Meals on Wheels, assisted living, and nursing care
    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and service providers
    • Lead outreach and educational initiatives to increase awareness of services
    • Participate in emergency operations and support incident reporting and conflict resolution efforts
    • Recommend strategies to strengthen engagement, participation, and program effectiveness
    • Occasional participation in after-hours or weekend emergency operations may be required
