The Transparency Team’s work focuses primarily on state and federal Freedom of Information Act, Open Meetings Act, press freedom, and First Amendment litigation. Among other cases, the Team forced the City of Chicago to release the Laquan McDonald shooting video and the Department of Justice to unredact the Mueller Report, and forced the release of records for the Pulitzer Prize-winning podcast In the Dark.
The Transparency Team Paralegal will be responsible for managing a large caseload of FOIA cases through all stages of litigation: docketing, calendaring, filing, service of process, preparing and serving discovery, submitting and tracking FOIA requests, drafting and submitting orders, and processing productions.
Prior experience with Illinois state court is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, organized, and detail-oriented, with strong computer skills.
