The Loan Applications Coordinator owns the borrower experience from initial application through signed term sheet. This role is responsible for managing nonprofit applicants through document collection, application completeness, eligibility review, process guidance, and transaction readiness before a deal is posted to our lending marketplace or submitted to lenders.
You will serve as the primary day-to-day relationship manager for nonprofit borrowers, ensuring each borrower application is completed in a timely manner, and ready for credit review and lender engagement in the B Generous marketplace and that each nonprofit borrower receives a responsive, transparent, professional application experience.
Success in this role means consistently moving qualified nonprofit applications from submission to signed term sheet quickly, accurately, and professionally while maintaining an excellent borrower experience.
Key Responsibilities
Application Intake & Document Management
- Review all loan applications for completeness and accuracy, identifying missing or deficient information and documentation immediately upon receipt
- Maintain a comprehensive checklist of required documents (e.g., financial statements, board resolutions, tax-exempt status IRS determination letters, articles of incorporation, organizational budgets, pledged revenue schedules) and track status for each application
- Ensure all applications meet B Generous’s minimum eligibility and submission standards before advancing to underwriting review
- Conduct initial data entry and verification of borrower information in the loan origination system
- Conduct calls with borrowers when needed to answer questions, assist with completing the application and/or assist in document aggregation
Pipeline Management & CRM Administration
- Manage the loan pipeline from application receipt through term sheet issuance in the B Generous’ CRM system (Salesforce) and loan origination system (Decipher), maintaining real-time status updates on every active transaction
- Track and report on key KPI pipeline metrics including overall application volume, application completion rates, time in each application stage, and overall application conversion rates, among other KPIs
- Create and maintain standardized intake workflows and templates to ensure consistency and scalability
- Flag at-risk deals, stalled applications, or borrower communication gaps to leadership with recommended next steps and conduct frequent call, email, and messaging campaigns to borrowers to ensure all applications are completed in a timely manner
Credit Decisioning Support
- Prepare and organize completed application packages for underwriting review, ensuring all required data points and supporting documentation are present
- Track credit review timelines and follow up internally to prevent delays in credit decisions
- Document all credit decisions, conditions, and exceptions for audit and compliance purposes
Term Sheet Preparation & Delivery
- Assist in the preparation of term sheets based on approved credit decisions by the B Generous underwriting team, ensuring accuracy of loan terms, conditions, and covenants
- Assist in delivering term sheets to nonprofit borrowers and help walk them through key provisions, repayment structures, and closing conditions
- Support borrowers in understanding and evaluating term sheet offers, answering questions and escalating complex issues to the B Generous underwriting team
- Track term sheet acceptance timelines and follow up with borrowers to drive timely responses
Borrower Relationship & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for nonprofit borrowers from application through term sheet acceptance, providing responsive, professional, and empathetic communication
- Educate borrowers on process milestones, expected timelines, and what to expect at each stage of the intake and underwriting process
- Maintain a high standard of customer service that reflects B Generous’s mission-driven approach to nonprofit lending
- Proactively re-engage applicants who stall in the pipeline through structured outreach sequences via phone, email, and messaging
Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years of experience in B2B sales, loan operations, loan processing, transaction coordination, or a related role within commercial lending, banking, or financial services in a high paced dynamic environment
- Background in customer success, B2B sales, client services, or borrower-facing roles in financial services or FinTech companies
- Basic understanding of commercial loan documentation, underwriting workflows, and commercial credit decisioning processes
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with a proven ability to manage multiple and many concurrent applications at various pipeline stages and communicate clearly and effectively to company management and with borrowers
- Outstanding written and verbal skills, including seamlessly communicating with nonprofit borrowers and key nonprofit executives such as Executive Directors, Board Members, CFOs
- Ability to explain financial processes clearly to nonprofit borrowers
- Proficiency with CRM systems (SalesForce), loan origination systems, and standard productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Slack, Asana)
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
- Proactive and accountable. This is key as this role requires exceptional initiative, strong follow-through, and comfort operating independently in a fast-moving startup environment
Preferred
- Experience in nonprofit operations and/or nonprofit finance, community development finance (CDFIs), commercial lending, or mission-driven financial services
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial structures and financial documents (e.g. 990s), as well as familiarity with nonprofit revenue cycles, grant funding timelines, and restricted vs. unrestricted revenue
- Knowledge of revenue-based financing, alternative lending structures, or fund-level lending operations
- B2B sales or account management experience in a high paced environment
