    Descripción

Factor E is expanding our global team with an experienced Development Director reporting directly to the Partners of Factor E.

At Factor E, we believe that the solutions needed to catalyze a climate revolution exist, but remain trapped within disconnected industries, geographies, and markets across the world. Factor E bridges the gap between groundbreaking climate technologies and the markets that urgently need them. We turn philanthropic capital into equity investments that accelerate breakthrough innovations in emerging markets to drive impact for economies, communities, and the planet.

The Development Director will work with Factor E Partners to build an enduring source of innovation and technology for Sub-Saharan Africa that will have a compounding and positive impact for generations to come. This new role will work with a diverse, global team to build a dynamic network and scale a model that is both proven and unique.

    Position Title: Development Director

Location: This is a remote position and location is flexible, but due to required travel for the job and the disparate time zones of other team members, candidates based in Washington, DC or New York, NY are preferred.

Management: This position reports to the Partners at Factor E Ventures.

    Terms: Full-Time with benefits

Salary: $110,000-140,000 (based on experience) plus a generous benefits package.

    About Factor E:

Factor E is an impact investment platform that identifies and invests in solutions to some of the world’s toughest climate and development problems. Operating at the intersection of risk capital, technology, and frontier markets, we accelerate the pace at which innovation positively impacts economies, communities, and the environment. As an “innovation factory”, Factor E collaborates with a diverse network of partners to identify and invest in energy, agriculture, water, and mobility solutions; sectors crucial for meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, tackling climate change, and reducing income inequality.

We are stewards of the “Innovation Trust,” a permanent source of risk-tolerant capital aimed at demonstrating the viability of breakthrough innovations in frontier markets. Our flexible structure allows us to make equity investments in pre-seed to seed stage ventures, and build entirely new ventures, or invest in IP partnerships, all of which are then supported by experienced hands-on post investment support.

At Factor E, we have a culture of candor with each other and our partners, and curiosity about the technical aspects and markets in which we work. We support each other, approaching each task with competence and conviction, to tackle big problems together.

    Role Overview:

This new role offers an entrepreneurial, visionary, and curious individual the opportunity to build and implement Factor E’s first individual giving program in collaboration with Factor E’s partners.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prospect, cultivate and secure new donor relationships with high-net-worth individuals and family foundations, soliciting gifts ranging from the low six to seven-figures.
    • Receive and respond to viable inbound inquiries from potential partners.
    • Prepare gift solicitation (individual and family foundation proposals, customized pitch decks and ask letters) and stewardship documents (grant and annual reports, donor communications, etc.).
    • Compile briefing memos, partnership updates, reporting metrics and communications for the Factor E Management Team and Board, as needed.
    • Meet annual, personal fundraising targets set by the leadership team, with a collective fundraising goal of $20 million over the next four years.
    • Effectively and professionally represent Factor E at events, conferences, and meetings.
    • Create compelling donor communications by collaborating with Factor E subject-matter experts to identify, craft, and share inspiring success stories and impact updates.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of direct and progressive experience working in fundraising.
    • Demonstrable track record in fundraising with qualitative and quantitative examples of success.
    • Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
    • Skilled at fostering strong, collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders, from the global Factor E team and Board of Directors to portfolio company executives and external partners.
    • Comfortable switching between working autonomously and in groups, depending on the task.
    • Highly proactive and self-directed, comfortable building from the ground up, thriving in ambiguity, and focused on delivering results.
    • Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy and completeness in communications.
    • Humble and committed to a continuous learning mindset, actively seeking and incorporating feedback to improve fundraising practice and deepen understanding of Factor E’s work.
    • Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to read and respond to donor and stakeholder needs effectively.
    • Experience working in a multi-cultural team and international settings.
    • Eagerness to spend time in the field in Sub-Saharan Africa to build an understanding of how a technology or business can impact customers and end-users.
    • Willingness to travel locally and nationally (US; up to 2-3 times per month), and occasionally internationally.
    • Ability to work outside of typical business hours to accommodate multiple time zones of Factor E’s team and partners.
    • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks efficiently, without sacrificing work quality.
    • Strong written and verbal English and strong presentation skills.
    • Experience writing donor presentations and proposals, annual reports, grant applications, and other written fundraising materials.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience in ag, energy, mobility or fintech sectors.
